SIL International Annual Report for 2002
“There is an enormous risk of seeing the onset of an unbalanced information society, one that takes no account of the cultural wealth and the linguistic diversity of our planet.”
—Dr. Adama Samassekou
President, African Academy of Languages
President, the World Summit on the Information Society under the UN Secretary-General
Just as advances in transportation have overcome the mountains that historically separated peoples, so through the combined efforts of SIL and other organizations, many minority language communities are now able to break linguistic barriers and participate more fully in global arenas. May the reports included in this 2002 Annual Report (1.6 MB) help you better understand these developments pursued on behalf of the rich and diverse linguistic heritage of our world.
