Building Capacity

SIL International Annual Report for 2001

“Capacity building is the processes and means for national governments and local communities to develop the skills and expertise needed to manage their environment and natural resources in a sustainable manner.” United Nations Conference on Environment and Development

As an international NGO with personnel from over 40 countries, SIL International continues to build capacity among language communities in over 70 countries. Many of the other 500 language communities we have already served now have access to these capacities at the community level or through networking at the national and international levels.

Read in our 2001 Annual Report (1.2 MB) how SIL International has worked with language communities worldwide to facilitate language development through research, translation, and literacy.
