From the introduction: "This article is the result of a presentation I gave for a bridging course earlier in 2011. The presentation is meant to encourage Papua New Guineans that they are not alone in their challenges with regard to their multicultural, multilingual situation, and that with motivation it is possible to provide good quality education for children, based on the Multi Lingual Education principles. I will not be able to discuss the pros and cons of MLE in detail, but want to establish first and foremost that Papua New Guinea is not the only country with challenges, but that other developing countries have recently gone through an evaluation of their bi-lingual policies and have started to question these, striving instead for a variety of solutions in order to enable greater access to education for more children."
