book cover

The publication provides insights from 5 individual cases where the explicit use of local language impacted effective instruction and learning. Each case is presented in terms of the program scope and learning outcomes, strengths, weaknesses and lessons learned. The cases demonstrate important lessons to inform educators and decision makers as they consider mother tongue-based bilingual or multilingual education programs. Research supports the findings.

The resource is published by UNESCO and available as a free PDF download in English or French.
