Literacy and Educational Materials
The production of good literacy and educational materials requires good illustrations. Usually the most effective and culturally appropriate illustrations are those done by local artists. However, a good artist may not always be available. In those cases, at times it is possible to use what has already been produced for other materials, or if acceptable, use clip-art. Of course whether or not drawings are done locally, or even by others who may be professional artists, it is important to test the proposed illustrations with people who are representative of the intended audience. The illustrations need to be culturally accurate and acceptable.
