SIL Hebrew Unicode Fonts

For displaying and printing Biblical Hebrew texts in the Unicode encoding.

Ezra SIL is the same typeface as SIL Ezra and is fashioned after the square letter forms of the typography of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS), a beautiful Old Testament volume familiar to Biblical Hebrew scholars. If you are interested in an electronic version of the BHS text, see Getting and Converting the BHS Text. The Ezra SIL fonts are OpenType® “smart” fonts. They are designed to work with any OpenType® application and are compliant with Unicode 3.2.

Two fonts are included in the package:

  • Ezra SIL—containing the basic set of Unicode characters needed for Biblical Hebrew texts following the typeface of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (Regular face)
  • Ezra SIL SR—has a modified form of cantillation (Regular face)

SIL International (SIL) is an organization of linguists dedicated to the study and promotion of the thousands of languages around the world. SIL's International Publishing Services serves SIL by developing products to assist in the publication of linguistic texts.
