These fonts and keyboards were designed for the following systems:

  • Windows 3.1 (they may also be used in later versions of Windows up though Windows XP)
  • Macintosh (System 7 or later)

Windows users should download and install the Keyman keyboarding utility. It is not included in the SIL Hebrew Font System package and must be downloaded separately.

Macintosh users should download and install the SILKey 1.2 keyboarding utility. It is not included in the SIL Hebrew Font System package and must be downloaded separately.

GX Macintosh System Requirements:

The GX features are only available within a GX application. GX applications will use either the full QuickDraw GX or the GXGraphics extension, which should be provided with the application. The GX font should work on Macintosh OS 7.5.x through 9. It is unknown if it will work on OS X. SIL Ezra GX is not an AAT Unicode font. It is pre-Unicode (8-bit).

Some GX Applications

Use in WorldScript Applications

The SIL Ezra GX font can also be used in any fully-compatible WorldScript application. However, it will not give any better contextualization than the non-GX fonts. Certain users may find this more acceptable than using the non-GX fonts. We regret that due to technical restrictions, the GX transliteration font does not function in WorldScript. SIL GX fonts do not work with any Nisus© product.
